Convenient for CIP Cleaning

Convenient for CIP Cleaning

Every production process of dairy products has strict hygiene requirements. Incomplete cleaning can lead to microbial overgrowth, causing huge raw material losses. The inner walls of our dairy clamp fittings are polished, ensuring thorough cleaning without residue during CIP cleaning. This not only guarantees the hygiene of dairy products but also reduces the single CIP cleaning time by 15% to 20%, saving energy consumption.

Application of Dairy Clamp Fittings

Raw Milk Refrigeration System
Raw Milk Refrigeration System

Raw milk is the raw material for dairy products; it is rich in fat and protein and prone to microbial contamination during storage. Dairy clamp fittings are made of stainless steel with smooth inner walls (Ra < 0.8μm), which not only ensures no residue during the loading and unloading of raw milk but also facilitates cleaning, ensuring the purity of dairy raw materials.

Pasteurization Processing Line
Pasteurization Processing Line

The dairy pasteurization line has a high temperature and a sharp temperature rise rate. Dairy clamp fittings can withstand sterilization at 4°C-140°C and do not leak under extreme temperature fluctuations, ensuring the safety of the production line. Their crevice-free structure prevents protein from scorching in corners due to uneven heating, thus avoiding the caramelized substances contaminating the entire product.

Fermentation Pipeline
Fermentation Pipeline

During the fermentation of dairy products, lactic acid bacteria need to be added, and the fermentation process requires strict conditions in the pipelines. If the pipeline seal is not tight and air enters, the lactic acid bacteria will lose activity, and mold may develop, causing huge losses. Dairy clamp fittings with high-performance seals provide excellent airtightness for fermentation pipelines. They are often used to connect the inoculation port and sampling valve of the fermentation tank.

Filling Production Line
Filling Production Line

The dairy filling production line often fills different dairy products such as whole milk, skimmed milk, or flavored milk. Using dairy clamp fittings can reduce pipeline disassembly and changeover time, making cleaning easier. The filling process is accompanied by high-frequency pulse pressure, and dairy clamp fittings can withstand the pressure without loosening or leaking, reducing product waste.

How Do You Ensure The Tightness of Dairy Clamp Fittings?

Our dairy clamp fittings are manufactured with high-precision machine tools to ensure high parallelism and a perfect fit with the gasket. This prevents leakage caused by incomplete fitting and unevenness.

Can Your Clamp Fittings Withstand The Abrasion from Milk Powder?

In dairy products, milk powder is a solid powder, and it is transported through pipelines by airflow. This causes milk powder particles to collide with the pipe walls and clamp fittings at high speed, which can easily wear down the passivation layer of the stainless steel surface and even create tiny pits.

For milk powder transport pipelines, we provide thickened clamp fittings, such as 2.0mm or 3.0mm. They are made from high-quality stainless steel materials to ensure that the performance of the raw materials meets standards.

How to Choose Gaskets for Dairy Clamp Fittings?

This depends on their application. Different parts of the dairy production line have different requirements for clamp fitting gaskets. For high-temperature sterilization lines, we recommend silicone gaskets, which have good heat resistance.

For filling production lines, we recommend EPDM or silicone gaskets.

For cleaning circuits, we recommend EPDM gaskets, which can withstand corrosion from disinfectants.

How to Prevent Product Damage during Transportation?

If your customised dairy clamp fittings have small sizes, we use plastic film packaging and add partitions for stabilization to prevent collisions. This ensures product safety while saving on excessive packaging costs.

For larger clamp fittings or bulk orders, we use foam and stretch film to package and customize wooden crates for handling.

How Long Does It Take to Ship after Placing An Order?

If you order standard parts, they can be shipped within 24 hours after placing the order. If you have special customization requirements, we will determine the shipping time based on the complexity of the customization.

How to Solve The Frequently Loosening Problem due to Vibration?

For pump outlets with frequent vibrations, we recommend clamp fittings with locking nuts or spring washers. If the vibration at the pump outlet is severe, supports can be added to the pipeline to reduce vibration.

What Are Dairy Clamp Fittings?

The dairy clamp fitting is a pipeline connector designed for dairy production lines, consisting of a fitting end, a gasket, and a clamp. It connects the fitting to the pipeline through the clamp. In the design, we place great emphasis on the sanitary standards of the dairy clamp fitting to ensure the hygiene and safety of dairy products during production.

Important Parameters of Dairy Clamp Fittings

Compliance Standards

3A Certification

The 3A certification is the most authoritative hygiene design standard in the American dairy industry. It has strict requirements for surface roughness, cleaning performance, and the absence of dead corners. Our 3A dairy product clamp fittings enable your dairy products to meet the standards of North American dairy products.

FDA Certification

FDA certification mainly targets the gaskets of dairy clamp fittings. If the gaskets in the dairy industry do not use food-grade materials, they may leach chemical reagents during production, leading to mandatory product recalls. We offer food-grade gasket materials that are resistant to acids, alkalis, and oils, and do not release harmful substances under high temperatures.

Pipe Outer Diameter

Common pipe outer diameters used in the dairy industry include 1 inch, 1.5 inches, 2 inches, etc. However, different countries have different outer diameter standards, and there are slight differences in the requirements for the outer diameter and groove depth of the clamp. Our dairy clamp fittings are available in commonly used standards such as ISO, SMS, DIN, and IDF.

Pipe Wall Thickness

The wall thickness of the pipe is closely related to the load-bearing capacity and wear resistance of the clamp fittings. The standard wall thickness of clamp fittings includes 1.2mm, 1.5mm, or 1.65mm, which can meet the transportation needs of most liquid dairy pipelines.

The transportation of solid particles such as milk powder requires a thicker design to extend service life. Our thickened design includes 2.0mm-3.0mm and controls wall thickness deviation within ±0.1mm, allowing precise matching of your different pipe diameters and pressures.

How to Choose The Right Dairy Clamp Fittings?

Pipeline Medium Types

  • Raw Milk

Raw milk has lower viscosity compared to cream, cheese, etc., but it is rich in fat and protein. It requires a surface smoothness of Ra ≤ 0.8μm to prevent the deposition of protein and fat in micro-pits.

The molybdenum element in 316L forms a stable passivation film on the surface, increasing the pitting potential and preventing corrosion by chloride ions in raw milk. The milk product clamps fittings used for milk transportation should be made of 316L stainless steel.

  • Yogurt

Yogurt has high viscosity, requiring a polished grade of Ra ≤ 0.4μm of the inner wall. If the inner wall is rough, yogurt can remain on the surface, which can easily form clumps, generate bacteria, and contaminate later batches. Therefore, yogurt clamp fittings must be made of 316L material and polished to a mirror finish.

  • Cream

Compared to other dairy products, cream has a fat content of 30%-80%, and is very easy to adhere to micro-scratches. The fat molecules in the cream are highly prone to penetrate the EPDM interior. Therefore, it is recommended to use the FKM material for the gaskets for the clamp fittings applied to the cream. The molecular structure of FKM material is highly fluorinated, and does not swell or soften when contacting high-concentration fat, thus preventing leaks caused by fitting deformation.

  • Cheese

Compared to raw milk, yogurt, and cream, cheese requires a large amount of salt during production, resulting in a high chloride content and damaging the passivation film on the surface of stainless steel. Therefore, cheese clamp fittings must be made of 316L stainless steel. The semi-solid nature of cheese makes it easy to break by impact, which damages the integrity of the curd structure. We recommend dairy clamp fittings with no internal welds or protrusions.

  • Milk Powder

Unlike the media above, milk powders are dry powders. When transported at high speed in the pipeline, it easily generates strong static electricity. To conduct static electricity, milk powder clamp fittings must use conductive materials, including 316L material and conductive gaskets. They prevent dust explosions caused by static accumulation. We recommend reinforced dairy clamp fittings equipped with gaskets made of conductive materials.

Pipeline Environment

  • Temperature

Frozen Storage Environment -30℃

In a low-temperature environment of -30℃, ordinary gaskets will become hard, leading to poor sealing. We recommend low-temperature resistant silicone gaskets, which can maintain good elasticity even at -50℃.

Normal Temperature Transport Environment

The normal temperature dairy transporting pipes have a high tolerance for clamp fittings. If you have a limited budget, 304 stainless steel clamp fittings may be used as external interfaces for normal-temperature raw milk transport. For purchasers with a sufficient budget, we recommend 316L stainless steel, paired with universally compatible EPDM gaskets.

High-Temperature Sterilization Environment 72-85℃

EPDM gaskets can withstand temperatures up to 150℃ and have a compression set rate ≤ 20%, but frequent temperature fluctuations will reduce their lifespan and require regular replacement. If you have a sufficient budget, we recommend silicone gaskets that can withstand 200℃. Its compressive permanent deformation rate remains below 25% even at 200℃. Although the initial purchase cost of the silicone gasket is high, its service life is longer.

  • Pressure

Vacuum Pipeline

When the pipe’s inner is evacuated to a vacuum, the external environment exerts compressive pressure on the pipeline. If the pipe wall is thin or uneven, and the pressure exceeds the critical value that the pipe material can withstand, a local depression occurs. This leads to time-consuming replacement.

Therefore, in the vacuum concentration process of condensed milk and milk powder, we recommend clamp fittings with a wall thickness greater than 2.0 mm. It increases the critical instability pressure to 0.19 MPa, avoiding deformation caused by local pressure.

Atmospheric Liquid Transport

Atmospheric pressure liquid pipelines do not need to withstand extreme physical pressures, such as high or low pressure. The theoretical burst pressure of a 1.5mm thick pipe is > 20 MPa, which is sufficient for atmospheric pressure pipelines, such as milk transportation and semi-finished product transfer.

The gasket of the clamp fittings should be selected according to the features of the medium.

High-Pressure Pneumatic Transport

High-pressure pneumatic transport in the dairy industry is usually used to transport high-density milk powder or powdered additives. In addition to issues caused by static electricity and wear from granular materials, attention should also be paid to high-pressure gas leakage.

If the clamp fittings in dairy products are not well sealed, high-pressure gas can carry powder particles out, increasing the risk of dust explosions in the production workshop.

We recommend the enhanced gasket, with a 304 stainless steel framework embedded inside, ensuring the shape remains stable under an 8 bar pressure.
